An unidentified gunman was shot and killed outside the police headquarters in McKinney, Texas after spraying with bullets the building at about nine in the morning.
As of press writing, the identity of the man is not yet released by the police. At a morning press conference, Deputy Chief Scott Brewer said that the gunman on going to the station drove a Ford F-150 pickup with a trailer. The vehicle was abruptly swallowed up in flames.
The fire was believed to be triggered by the ammunition inside the pickup. Investigators said that the gunman began yelling and shooting the building with gunfire right after the fire began.
Police officers returned fire but it was distinct whether the shooter died because of being shot or due to self-inflicted wound.
According to the initial response of McKinney spokeswoman Anna Folmsbee, the gunman is dead but there were no elements yet on whether the man was shot by the police or committed suicide.
No other individual was reported to be injured. However, it is yet to be confirmed if there was anyone else involved in the shooting even if there was only one shooter.
